Idris Elba Confirms The Obvious That He Will Return As Heimdall in ‘Thor 2′

You see folks, Marvel doesn’t sign ANY actor for just one picture. If you sign with them to star in a movie, they own that ass for about nine movies or so.

Anyway, fanboy red carpet reporter Josh Horowitz cornered Elba at yesterday’s Gold Globes and got him to state the obvious about Thor 2 and whether we will see Heimdall this summer in Marvel’s The Avengers.

    He should have been The Black Panther in the Avengers sequels before the inevitable spin-off to his own stand-alone movie.

    Is it weird to anyone else that Idris Alba is like the black badass of cinema but his first entry into the Marvel Universe was as a Norse God? We must really live in a post racial Asgard.

    Like a lot of people i had some reservations with Elba as Heimdall until i saw the film and he was Fantastic. He is a great actor who should be a LOT bigger than he is. I hope his career blows up this year and beyond.
    If Hollywood can step back from their Love Affair with Denzel & Will Smith for one minute and allow another black actor to take a lead role that is NOT in a film produced by Tyler Perry or Ice Cube, maybe we can get some “real” diversity in Hollywood!
    There are a lot of phenomenal black actors who are continually stuck in supporting roles.
    Believe it or not I am a white conservative who is also a true movie fan that thinks everyone should get their due based on the quality of their acting and nothing else.

    I hear you on “Takers” and “The Losers” but I’m reserving my final opinion on Marvel and leads of color until I see if they f*ck up Nick Fury. It shouldn’t be hard not to F*ck that up.

    Have you seen any eps of ‘Luther’? There are 2 seasons out there – go! See! 

    He’s the main character (Det. Insp. John Luther), and he carries the show handily – It’s not just brainless action / cop fare – there’s a pretty good emotional / psychological element there too. Elba shows a lot of depth and ability. I will sign up for any project the guy does, especially ‘Pacific Rim’ – big fan of the Japanese kaiju genre, and having G. Del Toro directing is a win-win…

    I will pick up Luther. That and Homeland are my “Oops” watches. I watched The Hour and Pan Am. I just miscalculated what the “good” shows were this season. It will be corrected by next season.
