Oliver Stone’s ‘Savages’ Gets Bumped Up To July

From what I’ve heard of Don Winslow’s novel Savages, its a dark and twisted tale of drug dealing, kidnapping and double-crossing. Sounds like like the perfect fun summer film to me! Well, Universal is hoping it is anyway.

Deadline New York is reporting Universal has moved Savages from its original release date of September 28 to July 6. This puts it in direct competition with such films as The Amazing Spider-man and The Dark Knight Rises. I’m guessig they’re thinking Oliver Stone’s adaptation will work as counter programming to the big budget superhero films.

I’ve heard nothing but good things about Winslow’s book. I’ll have to pick it up.

Savages stars Aaron Johnson, Taylor KItsch, Blake Lively, Benicio Del Toro, Demian Bichir, John Travolta, Uma Thurman, Emile Hirsch, Mia Maestro and Salma Hayek.
