New Pic From ‘The Hobbit’ Has Bilbo Surrounded

I have another new pic for you today. Scroll down to give it a look. This one is from Peter Jackson’s upcoming film The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. The pic comes from an interview Yahoo! Movies did with Evangeline Lilly, who plays the elf Tauriel in the films.

Here’s an excerpt from the interview where Lilly discusses her training for the film:

“On top of my stunt training — which I need to learn how to be proficient with the bow and arrow, and with daggers, and in fighting orcs that are, you know, ten feet tall — I also have to learn the language of Elvish, and I have to learn an RP [Received Pronunciation] neutral English accent for when I speak English… [I've] spent four times as much preparing as I do actually shooting.”

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey comes to theatres December 14th, with the second film, The Hobbit: There and Back Again coming the following year on December 13th.

Are you guys psyched for this? I’m still not sold on this being split into two films. I just don’t see the need. Seems like more of a money grab than a creative decision. What do you think?

    I’m sold. Having recently re-read The Hobbit, there are lots of opportunities for embellishment in the story. Chunks of the narrative are glossed over or not even told at all (Gandalf, for instance). I can see that warranting two films.
