Jon Landau: Expect ‘Avatar 2’ Around 2016

It took James Cameron a very long time to make the “Avatar” film, so don’t expect the sequel will be a rushed job.

In a conversation with producer Jon Landau, a Bleeding Cool correspondent reported it will be some time until the audiences will get to watch “Avatar 2.” In fact, Landau told her that the first sequel is “four years away.”

That’s on a different timeline when the “Avatar” sequels were initially announced to be released in 2013 and 2014.

Landau also told the Bleeding Cool correspondent that the sequels will “showcase advanced film technology, from the 3D camera system to the CG and performance capture, but also in terms of a higher frame rate.”

So patience is a virtue. By taking their time, the “Avatar” sequels will be a much better product.

Damn you James Cameron! Convert Terminator 2 and Aliens into 3D in the mean time.

Well, since most of the characters are in CGI, I guess that it doesn’t matter that most of the original cast will be collecting social security by then.

By the time these sequels are ready to roll, I reckon no one will care. These days everything is rushed into production and pumped out as quick as possible, which itself is a real shame. I honestly think that audiences these days have very little patience, and our attention span has dropped to an alarming level too. The waiting will damage these movies in the end.

Considering the time of the year I think Christmas 2015 is closer to what he meant and not X-Mas 2016 which would be closer to 5 years.

Cameron never rushes anything, the guy is a perfectionist. I think the delay will allow for them to implement the new frame per seconds they want to use and any advances Cameron sees fit. Plus it’ll give him time to immerse himself in that universe and make another 2 mind-blowing sequels

Hate the wait but I’ve no doubt it’ll be worth it 10 times over

Avatar is trash! what are you babbling about. Unless you checked your brain at the box office, which It seems like you did you would see it was a visual spectacle and nothing more.

I doubt they could be damaged anymore than they already are…if there is anything to be damaged…

    Terminator is a REAL movie.

Ava$hitar is just an enviromentalist chant with beautiful graphics.

I hear they are working on a Titanic up-convert to 3D I would be much more interested in that as I loved that film and its Soundtrack.

There are plenty of parallels in the film to events going on in real life through out the film. But “cool guys” like you are too smart to notice. It’s obvious who checked their brains in

No one is forcing you to go to the theater and watch it.

Your “intelligence”? After reading just 3 of your comments  I think you’re reaching.

But to each their own just stop trying to pass yourself off as some sort of authority wether you hate or love something. You can do either without trying to take others down for differing from you

I think i’ts too long of a wait 2014 is more than enough time, it’s not like they’re building everything from scratch like the first one.

I really don’t want to wait that long just for him to pump up his 3D movies.
