Toy Fair 2012: ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ And ‘The Avengers’

This year’s New York Toy Fair doesn’t get underway until February 12-15, but the UK just couldn’t wait. They’re having one of their own right now with plenty of juicy bits pouring out of it — if littering your home with superhero sculptures is your thing, of course.

If scaring off potential dates with your “collector’s items” has you too worried, take comfort in that you’re able to indulge your inner screaming nerd with some photos from the fair that come from a delightful little blog, Idle Hands. Some of the photos of the superhero movie-related sculptures are below. They include the big players (Tom Hardy as Bane, Christian Bale as Batman, and Anne Hathaway as Catwoman) of director Christopher Nolan’s ‘Batman’ finale, ‘The Dark Knight Rises,’ as well as a pint-sized look at some the main guys (Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Mark Ruffalo as The Incredible Hulk, Chris Evans as Captain America, and Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man) of director Joss Whedon’s ‘The Avengers.’

Depending on your level of superhero fanaticism, you may want to check out the site for some other slick photos concerning The Justice League, DC Comic’s the New 52, ‘Green Lantern: The Animated Series,’ ‘Batman: Arkham City,’ and more.

There are also some more photos of ‘Avengers’ toys that came out a few days back, not to mention the silhouette of Rhys Ifans’ Lizard in director Marc Webb’s ‘The Amazing Spider-Man.’ He’s starting to look more and more like a Goomba from the ill thought out ‘Super Mario Bros.’ movie.

For another shot of Ruffalo’s Hulk, who is sans-purple pants, hit the link.

Lame. This is not what they should be doing with the film budget.

Now if only TDKR figures had bendable armatures…. sigh….

TDKR statues look good, except that is the scan of Anne’s stunt double body with Anne’s head on it!
