Flyover Video of ‘The Lone Ranger’ Sets

After sorting some budgetary issues Gore Verbinsky’s film adaptation of The Lone Ranger is finally starting production in New Mexico.

KRQE’s Skyranger pilot/reporter flew over what looked to be set construction in Rio Puerco Valley. Scroll down to see the video. When questioned, KRQE is reporting the New Mexico Film Commission would “neither confirm nor deny this set is for the Disney motion picture The Lone Ranger”. However, according to KRQE, industry insiders say it is.

The Lone Ranger stars Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp as The Lone Ranger and Tonto, respectively. It opens May 31, 2013.

Yep, the film commission is silent, unless you check their website – which has press releases about the start of production, and a page with contact info for the production office.

That’s a hell of a way to not confirm something….

I was speaking to the film commission not verifying what the sets were for, not whether or not the film is being shot in the state.
