Five New Images From ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’

Thanks to Entertainment Weekly I have five new photos from this summer’s history/horror mash-up Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Scroll down to check them out.

We have an array of pics here, two of which feature Lincoln on one of his first hunting expeditions, in which he seemingly gets bested by Rufus Sewell and a supermodel (Erin Wasson). That’s Benjamin Walker as Abe under the chair.

I’ve been reading a lot about this movie, and it seems some people are understandably under the impression this is a comedy. If you read the book then you know this is more of a straight horror story set against the backdrop of American History.

Here’s what Walker told EW on the subject:

“The joke is in the title, and then we fully commit to it.

“It’s told through the structure of Lincoln’s actual life. You not only see these huge fight scenes and great moments of drama, but you get sort of the greatest hits of Lincoln’s life, from the mysterious death of his mother through the Gettysburg address. You get a portrait of this man, as well as a thriller.”

If it follows the tone of the book we are getting a dark, layered horror story with surprising dramatic heft. I bought the book thinking it was comedic, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter comes to theatres June 22. Timur Bekmambetov is directing from a script by Simon Kinberg and the book’s author, Seth Grahame-Smith.
