Director Michael Mann (Last of the Mohicans, Heat) is in talks to direct The Big Stone Grid. Sony bought the script on spec about a year ago from writer S. Craig Zahler.
Deadline New York describes Grid as “a hard-edged thriller in the vein of Seven and Marathon Man, about two decorated detectives who uncover a terrifying extortion ring that operates within the secret underbelly of New York City.”
In addition to directing Mann will oversee Zahler as he writes the full script.
This sounds like a great film for Mann. Does anyone do the gritty crime thriller better? I hope he keeps the story set in New York, instead of moving it to LA where most of his films take place.
Man is currently working on Go Like Hell. A film about the Ford/Ferrari sports car wars in the 60s. Hopefully he’ll go right into Grid once Hell wraps.
