Actor/comedian Rob Corddry is in talks to join Michael Bay’s “low budget” crime film Pain and Gain. If Corddry signs on he will join Dwayne Johnson, Mark Wahlberg and Ed Harris in the film.
Per Variety, Corddry’s will be playing “John Mese, a former competitive bodybuilder who now owns the gym where Wahlberg’s character works as a personal trainer. His past as an accountant and notary makes him a valuable though unwilling member of Wahlberg’s scheme.”
Pain and Gain is the true story of two body builders, Johnson and Wahlberg, who get involved in kidnapping, extortion and murder in FLA. Its based on an article in the Miami New Times.
This is the smaller film Bay has been wanting to make for a few years now. Small is a relative term. I’m hearing Pain and Gain‘s budget is in the neighborhood of about $30 million. Considering the lowest budgeted film of Bay’s Transformers trilogy came in at $150 million, I’d say he’s pretty much paying for this out of the change jar he keeps on the book shelf in his office.
Fear not, when Bay gets this puny little film out of his system he will return to giant robots effing up and exploding everything in their path. Word has it the next Transformers film will be a bit of a reboot with all new characters. Who wants to bet Johnson jumps aboard Transformers 4?
