‘The Rock’ Will Probably Play Hercules

I imagine after jumping aboard a few franchises midstream (Fast Five, GI Joe: Retaliation, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island) Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson decided it was time to start one from the ground up with Hercules.

Mr The Rock is close to signing on for a big screen adaptation of Steve Moore’s 2008 graphic novel Hercules: The Thracian Wars.

“From the pen of Steve Moore (Dr. Who; Jonni Future) comes a tale of Hercules in his darkest hours. When the Thracian King summons the Greek hero and his six battle-worn companions to mold the Thracian army into a bloodthirsty, ruthless killing machine, the son of Zeus rushes to answer the call of war and gold. But within the nation of Thrace lies an epic tale of war, murder, deception and sacrifice that shows Hercules how far from grace he’s fallen— and what he must accomplish for redemption.”

Hercules will be directed by fanboy favorite Brett Ratner from a screenplay written by Ryan Condol.

How do you like Johnson as Hercules? How excited are you about Ratner directing?

    And this damn news story got my fanboy sperm all syncronized swimming because I thought Johnson was gonna play MARVEL COMICS’ Hercules. Now, team him up with Helmsworth in Thor 2 and the sequel writes itself.

    We all know Dwayne fits the bill in terms of physicality and presence but I hope he can handle the who Greek accent because without that it’s just The Rock whooping some Greek ass (Which I’d still be down for but it wouldn’t be Hercules). I still haven’t forgiven Ratner for almost killing the X-Men franchise though…
