MGM just snagged a lead actor (Joel Kinnaman) for the lead in their Robocop reboot, and it now appears they have found a distributor for the film as well.

Sony Pictures will once again partner with MGM. The two companies have already worked together on last year’s The Zookeeper and are releasing Skyfall, the new James Bond film, later this year.

Elite Squad helmer Jose Padilla is directing from a script by Josh Zetumer.

Kinnaman is a solid actor probably best known for AMC’s The Killing and Safe House and Padilla has directed two great Elite Squad films, but Zetumer is an unknown quantity here. Taking a look at his IMDB page doesn’t tell you much at all. His only credits are Robocop and an untitled action thriller. Is anyone familiar with his work? Is he a good fit for this type of flick?
