First Photo Of ‘The Lone Ranger’ Hits The Web

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer has released the first official photo from “The Lone Ranger,” featuring a first look at Johnny Depp as Tonto and Armie Hammer as John Reid, the Lone Ranger.

Check out the photo below, which looks like Johnny Depp could have been a good cast for The Crow reboot.

“The Lone Ranger” is a thrilling adventure infused with action and humor, in which the famed masked hero is brought to life through new eyes. Native American spirit warrior Tonto (Johnny Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Armie Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice—taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.

The film, which is due out May 31, 2013 is directed by Gore Verbinski from a script written by Ted Elliott, Terry Rossio, Eric Aronson, and Justin Haythe.

    You know, I actually like the direction it seems they’re taking. His attire is more along the lines of what a Ranger would actually wear. The only deviation being his mask of course, but that’s what makes him The Lone Ranger after all. As long as the mask and the white cowboy hat are there, it’s true to the character as far as I’m concerned.

    Why did they go out of their way to make Tonto look badass and not the Lone Ranger? I’m sure they could have created him a much more dignified/heroic western look. Producers and directors still don’t seem to understand the importance of a hero’s look. It’s what distinguishes the hero/vigilante from the averag man/woman. Hero’s/vigilanties are not suppose to blend in. Its obvious that producers and directors think the story is the only thing that mattes. More often than not, the stories are horrible anyway.

    good god p.c. crap is hilarious. We go from an actual Indian(two if you count the awful remake). To non Indian Depp trying SO hard to look bad ass and non “eeeevil white man stereotype”. Looks more ewok than last of mohicans. And what now because “dark” is the cliche of Hollywood trying to reinvent everything we get a mortician Lone Ranger? Is Burton directing this?

    I want the blue outfit back. And that mask ain’t foolin’ nobody. He’s no Clayton Moore… And what’s with the badge? The guy’s supposed to be an ex Texas Ranger turned  vigilante, not a current Texas ranger. Tonto looks good though. I wonder if they’re going to use the William Tell overture?

    my guess is that this photo is from early in the story…characters often change/damage/lose their wardrobe so maybe there are some changes in store for those freaking crybabies whining about the costumes.

     Back on the ridiculous mortician costume, hollywood is so into inappropriately making every hero “dark,” first we have a superman with the exact suit of “eevil drunk superman from Supes 3″ to now a lone ranger..who wears butch cavendish costume!
