Latest ‘[•REC] Genesis’ Trailer Has Bride Showered With Gore

If life and sitcoms are to be believed, wedding day blues are commonplace: people not making it down the aisle; or if they do, the harsh realization that they’ve essentially signed away their single life causes them to pass out. Can’t forget the classic uttering of the wrong name, either.

All of that is child’s play (not the movie) compared to ‘[•REC] Genesis,’ however. Social embarrassment and early contemplation of divorce are one thing, but possessed people with zombie-like symptoms are quite the other. Once the first death cry echos throughout the room, eyes tend to wander away from the lovely bride.

Empire has gotten their hands on the latest trailer for the film. If the previous two entries in the series didn’t spell it out clearly, it is not for the kiddies or those who have bosses with no appreciation for fine film. Check it out below.

But first, the synopsis via IMDB:

The action now takes place miles away from the original location and partly in broad daylight, giving the film an entirely fresh yet disturbing new reality. The infection has left the building. In a clever twist that draws together the plots of the first two movies, this third part of the saga also works as a decoder to uncover information hidden in the first two films and leaves the door open for the final installment, the future ‘[REC] 4 Apocalypse.’

The film is getting a formal release in its home country of Spain later on in the month on the 30th, but it had an early showing at the currently running SXSW. Was anyone lucky enough to catch it?

Seemingly ditching the number 3, instead opting for its classic record symbol, ‘[•REC] Genesis’ is directed by co-director of the first two films, Paco Plaza. It stars Leticia Dolera as the chainsaw wielding bride, Clara; and Diego Martín as her newlywed husband, Koldo.
