Is it me or does Rico Rodriguez in the above photo look like New York Jets Quarterback Mark Sanchez? Anyway, I remember playing the first Just Cause on my tricked out PC at the time and moaning that it was nothing more than a port from the consoles. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the game, it’s just that us elite PC gamers don’t like when game publishers don’t put in the time to take advantage of our video cards and instead just port the game over from the consoles. Luckily, Square Enix listened because they made up for it big time when the sequel came out in 2010. That one rocked and pushed my PC to the edge. I had an absolute blast playing the sequel. If you can’t tell, I’m big into sandbox games.
In playing Just Cause, I always said to myself that the character of Rico Rodriguez would be dope to see in a movie – a Latino James Bond/Jason Bourne with some swag – not some cornball like Will Ferrell in brown face.
It looks like it’s gonna happen because a while back in the trades, it was announced that just like Hitman and Tomb Raider, Just Cause was getting the game to movie treatment from producers Adrien Askarieh (Prime Universe Productions) and Eric Eisner (Double E Pictures)! The script was being developed independently and once the producers felt the script was on point, they would then package it through CAA and either make it independently or set it up at a studio. Of course I used all my resources and got my hands on the script! So what did we think?
