BJJ Addict interviewed Randy Couture recently, and he had a few interesting things to say. You can see the video below. If you want the Expendables news skip ahead to about the 3:00 mark.

He mostly says what you’d expect, he enjoyed filming the sequel and hanging out with they guys again. Then he drops a little nugget that made me pause and rewind. He said Expendables 3 will start shooting in the Fall of this year. This is the first I’m hearing of this. I’m sure Stallone has considered the possibility of a third film, but I assumed he and the studio would want to wait and see what the box office take on EX2 is. It’s not exactly a sure thing, especially with this PG-13 thing floating around.

If Couture is correct and they are indeed going to begin production this year, that means they’ll start filming barely a month after EX2 is released. At that point they’ll know for sure if the box office returns on it warrant a third outing, but it also means the script is either being written now, or has been written. Most likely the former.

This is by no means a sure thing. Couture could simply be referring to something Stallone said about when he would like to start shooting; a best case scenario or even just a wishful thinking type of thing.
