Digital artist Victor Hugo (not the French novelist) has been using 3D Studio Max to do some Marvel fan art, and it’s been interesting to see how the Marvel Universe could look with a more Pixar-like human style.
Hugo first grabbed my eye with Baby Magneto:
You can see how his style is Marvel by way of the Incredibles.
His new piece is called “What Are You Building, Stark?” and includes a super-nerd nod to Portal by the way of Aperture-brand beer.
A lot of great detail and texture here. Kind of makes you wish that this was for a Marvel project. Iron Man is certainly the correct character to adapt to this style with his emphasis on cool-looking technology and powers like flying and light (relatively easy to do in CGI) as opposed to something like the Fantastic Four or Ghost Rider who depend on more CGI difficult things like inter-dimensional travel or “realistic” flaming skulls.
Anywho, you already got the real interesting Iron Man news today, concerning the cast of Iron Man 3 (and you might as well throw Nick Fury in there, dude will be back).
If you want to geek out over digital art, you can hop over to Hugo’s blog.
