Sony is in talks with director D.J. Caruso (Disturbia, Eagle Eye) to helm Invertigo. The film is being described as a drama and was penned by Transformers: Dark of the Moon writer Ehren Kruger and Bradley Camp.
In the film a NASA satellite falls out of orbit and crashes in NYC. This creates a “reverse-G vortex”, which reverses gravity. This puts the planet in imminent danger, unless the rescue mission is successful.
Can I start laughing now?
This reminds me of an episode of the Kevin James sitcom The King of Queens. In the ep they all went to see a movie called Floaters, which had more or less the same plot. In the faux film Earth’s gravity reverses causing people to float up into the sky. I don’t want to spoil anything, but they solved the problem by putting a giant dome around the Earth.
Is this what it’s come to, people? Hollywood is now borrowing plots from fake movies in sitcoms?
What’s next? Seinfeld‘s Rochelle, Rochelle?
