‘Chronicle’ Director Josh Trank Goes for ‘The Red Star’

After Chronicle was a big critical and financial success, everyone wants director Josh Trank for their comic book adaptations. He has already been rumored to helm Venom and is on the short list of directors Fox want for their Fantastic Four reboot. Neither of those films will be his next, however.

Warner Brothers has signed Trank to develop and direct a film based on Christian Gossett’s comic book The Red Star.

From Deadline New York:

“The comic is set in an alternate USSR where futuristic technology co-mingles with magical elements. The protagonist is a Red Fleet soldier who goes up against an ex-leader who rules with an iron fist.”

The Red Star adaptation will be written by Jason Rothenberg with Neal Mortiz producing.

This guy knows how to do a lot with a little so I’m interested to see how he works with bigger budget films. I think he has a bright future ahead of him
