Darren Aronofsky Will Direct Judy Garland Biopic ‘Get Happy’

I’ve made it very clear that I love the films of Darren Aronofsky. In my opinion he is one of our best working directors. I will watch any film he makes. Now, it seems, I will be watching a biopic of Judy Garland.

The Weinstein Co. has signed Aronofsky to direct Get Happy, starring Anne Hathaway. The film is based on the book Get Happy: The Life of Judy Garland written by Gerald Clarke. “The pic will follow the true life story of American actress and singer Judy Garland, who, despite her professional triumphs, battled many personal problems, including a long running battle with drug and alcohol addiction, money woes and a string of divorces.” The script will be written by Jaffe Cohen.

Aronofsky is panning to begin filming his biblical epic Noah starring Russell Crowe this summer. I imagine he will move right into Get Happy once he has finished Noah.

What do you think of Aronofsky taking on this project? Like I said, I’m game for anything he’s involved in.
