Daniel Craig Won’t Stop Playing Bond Until They Make Him

Daniel Craig has no plans to stop playing James Bond. In an interview with the BBC he said he’ll keep going until the producers want him to stop.
“I know there’ll be someone after me, and hopefully someone after them – I’m just trying to keep [the series] going”, Craig said.
For a while it looked like Skyfall, the next Bond film, wasn’t going to happen. MGM was in a little financial trouble, but that got all sorted out thanks to Sony.
Here’s Craig on what the filmmakers did during the temporary stoppage and Skyfall in general:
“We haven’t been resting on our laurels, we’ve been plotting what to do with this film.
“The first one was a whirr – it was a new experience and flew by – the second one was the tricky second album, but this one we’ve really planned and got a great script.
“It’s going to be different from the last one, but it will still be a great Bond movie.”
I hope by “different” he means “good”. I wasn’t really a Quantum of Solace fan.
Skyfall hits theatres November 9th.

i don’t get what everyone’s huge hate on for quantum of solace is all about.  i thought it was leaps and bounds more entertaining than anything brosnan and company ever turned out.  maybe i’m just more easy to please with this sort of movie?  i don’t think so, but…  what were the huge plot holes that everyone refers to but don’t specify?  were they worse than the plot holes in any of the other bond movies?  yes, i wasabsolutely taken by surprise that the tone of quantum seemed to revert back to earlier and more kinetic chapters, whereas casino royale had more sexy slow intrigue.  i just don’t think quantum was bad enough for all the theatrical lambasting it gets.

I too liked QOS, but I understand that other people felt it played out more like a Bourne movie than a Bond film, and I can see their point. Casino Royale set up what most of us hoped would be a longer story about this ultra top secret global conspiracy, and QOS wrapped it up a little too quickly for my taste.

Quantum of Solace was in no way shape or form a bad movie but like Sarcastabastard (awesome name btw) said, it felt more like a Bourne film than a Bond film. Casino Royale blended the right amount of Bond’s trademark smoothness with Craig’s version of Bond’s brutality and grit and that’s what made it one of the best Bond films ever. Hopefully they find that healthy balance again in Skyfall because I’m quite fond of Craig as Bond and I’d love to see more

    Well said.

yeah well said all around.  point taken about the way the action was paced like bourne.  i love all that hand to hand to knife to shard of glass stuff though.  and for my moneydaniel craig looks better doing it than matt damon.  purely a matter of taste  ;)

I’m glad there’s a little QOS support group here. I too am a fan of the film. Frankly, I think it was better crafted than the Bourne films. It looks fantastic in hi-def. It’s just that it pales a bit in comparison to Casino Royale, which is in my top 3 Bond films (the others being Goldfinger and OHMSS). Bring on Skyfall. All signs point to f*king great.

The big problem with QOS was that they made it during the writers’ strike and they didn’t have a complete script when they went to film it.  If the script had been finished and more fleshed out, it could have been amazing.  But that is a huge challenge to overcome, and add to that the fact that Casino Royale was one of the greatest Bonds ever, it was going to be a miracle to be even better.

I can’t wait for Skyfall.  They have a script that they had time to work on, the best Bond since Connery, and a whole pile of talent behind it.  I really can’t wait.  It comes out two weeks before the end of the world; it should be a good note to cash out on…
