Daily Mail Online has some set shots from The Lone Ranger, which you can see below. When I say set shots I mean that literally, they are just shots of the set. No actors, just aerial pics of a western town being assembled.
The Lone Ranger had a bit of a struggle to production. It seems Disney was a tad skittish to start production on a western with a budget well over $200 million. I think it was originally going to cost something like $250 mil. Even with The Pirates of the Caribbean team of director Gore Verbinski and Johnny Depp in the lead the mouse house still balked. Thankfully they were able to whittle the budget all the way down to $215 million.
How they’ll be able to make a western on such a tight sum vexes me. I guess they’ll have to settle for Applebee’s at craft services instead of Spago. They really suffer for their art.
