Two International Trailers For ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’

Two new international trailers are now online for the upcoming action sequel “G.I. Joe: Retaliation,” which stars Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Channing Tatum, Adrianne Palicki, Byung-hun Lee, Ray Park, Jonathan Pryce, RZA, Ray Stevenson, and Bruce Willis.

The film opens June 29, 2012.

A follow-up to the 2009 release of G.I. JOE: RISE OF THE COBRA, which grossed over $300M worldwide, Paramount Pictures, MGM and Skydance Productions, in association with HASBRO and di Bonaventura Pictures, commences production on G.I. JOE: RETALIATION. In this sequel, the G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra; they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence.

“G.I. Joe: Retaliation” is directed by Jon M. Chu from a screenplay written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.

    Ya know even though some of the action sequences and vehicles look more like the G.I. Joe I loved as a kid the premise just kills it for me.  The first movie was basically “G.I. Joe Begins” which was completely unnecessary.  They made is silly as fuck and not the fun 80′s cartoon type, just random and nonsensical.  THEN for the follow up its basically “G.I. Joe Ends”.  Who thought THAT was the way to go?  How about a fucking G.I. Joe movie where the Joes (already established advanced military organization) have to just stop Cobra (advanced terrorism radical group dabbling in Magic and fringe science) from destroying the world?  Nope, just G.I. Joe Begins and G.I. Joe ends.  And as much as I love the Rock he is not Roadblock.  Nor is Channing Tatum Duke… Nor is… well you get the idea.

    I love the look of the new movie. It looks like it’s inherited some of the “cheese” from the first film but that’s what the franchise (cartoon at least) is known for. They’ve dumped the ridiculous cast of the first film, got in a few decent actors to replace them, revamped Cobra Commander and all in all it’s looking pretty good.

    That first trailer – the scene where the Commander et all are walking down the stairs – finally they look like the Cobra I remember, not the one Stephen Sommers completely fucked up in the first film, no wonder he was sacked during pre-production!
