‘Clifford The Big Red Dog’ is Coming To The Big Movie Screen

I’m fairly certain when it comes to children’s books Hollywood is throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks. The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Universal and Illumination Entertainment have optioned Norman Bridwell’s Clifford the Big Red Dog for the big movie screen.

From THR:

Clifford follows the adventures of a 25-foot-tall red dog and his owner, a child named Emily Elizabeth. The girl picked up the dog when he was a puppy and the runt of the litter, but her love for him made him grow super huge, so much so that the family had to move out of the big city to a New England-esque island town.

Matt Lopez will write the script for the live action/animated film.
Clifford was first published in 1963, so I guess the plan is to get the film out in time for the fiftieth anniversary next year.
