MGM Will Bring Us Ray Bradbury’s ‘From The Dust Returned’

MGM purchased the films rights to Ray Bradbury’s From the Dust Returned. The book is about a boy named Timothy who is adopted by family of friendly ghouls.

It’s Halloween and that mean it’s time for another family reunion. On the night before the big event, Timothy’s mummified grandmother tells him stories about his family…

“Mom and dad are loving vampires; teen sister Cecy is immobilized and bed-ridden, but she can teleport into the bodies of other mortals so that she can experience human emotions, Uncle Einar is a green-winged vampire who serves as a human kite for Timothy. To Timothy, who was dropped on their doorstep, it’s family.”

Bradbury doesn’t usually allow film adaptations of his work, but he got to know Denise DiNovi and Alison Greenspan while working on the film version of The Illustrated Man. That project never came to fruition, but the three got along well and Bradbury was comfortable with them producing this project.
