Ridley Scott Wants Harrison Ford In ‘Blade Runner’ Sequel

Ridley Scott is going back to his first films for inspiration. Prometheus, Scott’s kind of (but not really, maybe just a little bit) prequel to Aliens is hitting theatres in just under two weeks and then he moves on to Blade Runner 2.

Actually, he’s going to direct Cormac McCarthy’s The Counselor next, then he’s going to revisit the world of Blade Runner.
When Scott announced the project speculation immediately began about whether or not Harrison Ford would be reprising the role of Rick Deckard. There were rumors, but nothing more.
Well, no contracts have been signed, or even drawn up, but we do have confirmation from Scott that he’d like Ford involved.
Here’s what Scott said on the matter:
“I don’t think it’ll be Harry [starring]. But I’ve got to have him in it somewhere. That’d be amusing.”
This is hardly a confirmation of Ford’s involvement, but it does mean Scott wants him in the film, even if it’s only a cameo.
Thanks to Sean Lozano for giving us a heads up on this one.

Harrison Ford is getting kind of old now.

He could be the leader of a secret safe haven for on the run replicants “up north” somewhere.

Well, it’s well known that Harrison Ford didn’t “enjoy” his involvment with the first one up to the point that his son had to do the stand in for one of the reshoots for the Final Edition which I’m guessing only took a day to shoot and I also doubt he was too busy for that. But, whatever the role is, small or large, I think Harrison Ford really needs to be in a great film again because all his works have failed these last 2 decades or so, and now he’s not even the star of some of the films that were flops, like last years Cowboys and Aliens. A friendly advice to Mr. Ford. I don’t know how Sir Ridley treated you during the filming of Blade Runner but you have to admit that the final product became the pinacle of SF cinema. If you can admit that, do yourself a favor and, lead role or not, get yourself back in a sure-to-be-masterpiece. It will do you and your career nothing but pull it upwards. Sir Ridley knows it and so does the whole world. To be honest, it’s not like Sir Ridley hires any actor, especially ones who despised him to a certain degree. That’s a real honor or the equilavent of lightning stricking twice.
