De Niro And Stallone May Have A ‘Grudge Match’

Are you ready for a Cop Land reunion? What if I said we may finally get to see Jake La Motta and Rocky Balboa beat the crap out of eachother?

Robert De Niro and Sylvester Stallone are in talks to star in the comedy Grudge Match for Warner Brothers. If they sign on they will play boxers who decide to go at it on more time for a final “grudge” match.

One question: How in the hell are we supposed to believe De Niro stands a snowball’s chance in hell in a one on one fight with Stallone? Yes, De Niro is a superior actor, but he’s not exactly as ripped as Stallone. He’s known for his method acting, so one assumes Die Niro will try to bulk up a bit for the role.

Peter Segal is set to direct Grudge Match. The script has seen a lot of writers, most recently Doug Ellin (Entourage).

    DeNiro will bail on this before it gets too far, like he did on EDGE OF DARKNESS.  Stallone doesn’t have very good luck with comedies, so maybe that would be the smart move…
