‘Green Lantern’ Scribe Michael Goldenberg to Write ‘Wonder Woman’ Script

In case you missed it, there was news that Warner Brothers hired a writer for a “Wonder Woman” movie.

In the same Variety report on “Justice League” movie, the article did mention “Wonder Woman” movie is in the works with Michael Goldenberg as the scriptwriter.

Goldenberg is the writer for last summer’s “Green Lantern” movie and its upcoming sequel. He also wrote the screenplays for “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” “Peter Pan” and “Contact.”

There was no word on when or why Goldenberg was hired on to the “Wonder Woman” project. No release date is announced yet.

Wasn’t there a really good WW script a while back that you guys reviewed? Whatever happened to that one?

    That’s how them suits/studios do…
    Like gold fish, round round…
30 secs. later a new treat.

Goldberg took the vast history and storyline of the Green Lantern, and didn’t do well with it!
Now he’s given the task of writing a screenplay for one of the original superheroes and I will bet money that all he knows about Wonder Woman is the 70′s tv series!
I have lost hope that the DC universe will ever successfully expand beyond Batman & Superman in the movie world. Sad :(

wasn’t that the same one that joss whedon was set to direct?  i’d like to think they all feel like a bunch of asshats now, but i’m sure that isn’t the case.

michael goldberg… and who else?  because if they want to really make a shitty movie that feels like a sucker punch they’re going to have to get at least three more hacks in on the action.

Green Lanten bombed at the boxoffice and so they’re going to make a sequel to it, and also hire the same writer for Wonderwoman. Excellent decisions!

Is Wonder Woman going to fight a big yellow cloud?

  • PresidentOhbama

I’m afraid the color of the big cloud is goint to be grey this time, like that one from FF2 because it did better than GL. Sorry, big yellow cloud fans, WB has decided to go the Marvel way! But don’t worry because WB’s next big budgeted DC movies are going to be the remake/reimagination/prequel and sequels of the Swamp Thing as a trilogy shot back-to-back!

Laeta Kalogridis wrote a great WW script a few years ago.  It definitely could’ve used a rewrite or two (Steve Trevor’s girlfriend’s sole purpose seemed to wait around and get dumped for Wonder Woman, stuff like that) and I don’t see why they shouldn’t dust off that script.

I don’t understand why they’d hire a guy who wrote what was ultimately the “Green Lantern” film we saw on screen.  But then again, Martin Campbell directed one of the best Bond movies, “Casino Royale,” so there was NO WAY he could’ve screwed up “GL”, right?  Let’s hope that “GL” was an aberration for both.

Joss whedon has for years been trying to get his wonder woman script made even going as far as potentially casting the film.  WB never got it off the ground but i wonder how mad they are dashing to convince whedon to make the film now that his avengers film is squirting out money babies like tomorrow’s news
