Cronenberg, Mortensen and Cassel Return for ‘Eastern Promises 2′

News first came out a couple of years ago that David Cronenberg was interested in doing a sequel to Eastern Promises, and it looks as though we’re even closer to seeing it now.

Vulture is reporting the original film’s stars, Viggo Mortensen and Vincent Cassel, are in talks to reprise their roles.
According to Vulture the sequel…

“… picks up where the 2007 film left off — with the incompetent underboss Kirill (Cassel) thinking that he and his henchman driver Nikolai (Mortensen) really have inherited the throne from his crime-lord father, without knowing that Nikolai is actually a clandestine agent working undercover in Russia’s federal security service.”

Cronenberg is back behind the camera directing from a script by Steven Knight, who also wrote the first film. They hope to start filming in early 2013 once Mortensen’s schedule opens up.

I liked the first one.  The shower fight scene was kinda gay though.

Agreed with Preston above. I’ll go a different direction with my comments for the shower fight: SHOCK!
