Matt Damon Signs On For ‘The Magnificent Seven’

I’m as skeptical as anyone when I hear Hollywood wants to remake a classic, especially one that was basically perfect the first time, but The Magnificent Seven remake is starting to look pretty damn good.

Tom Cruise is playing Chris, the role originated by Yule Brenner; Morgan Freeman Will may play Calvera, the villain and Kevin Costner is rumored for Britt. Now
The Sun is reporting Matt Damon has signed on to for Vin, originally played by Steve McQueen. This won’t be Damon’s first time remaking a classic western, he recently starred in the Coen Brothers superior (IMHO) remake of True Grit.
A source for The Sun had this to say:
“MGM are throwing big money at the film and wanted some top names to fill the main parts.
“You can’t get much bigger than Cruise and Damon.”
With a cast this good it’s hard to dismiss this as just another remake.

Tom Cruise in Brenner’s role? Matt Damon in the iconic McQueen role?

    Shave your head Tommy…
    Then… Yule… Look the part.

  • Matt Shimon

Agreed! And when he’s done with that, he can shave his head again for Agent 99.

Everybody, I wouldn’t hold on to this, until the studios actually come out with it. The Sun newspaper is the worst tabloid here in the UK. They said that The Dark Knight Rises would center round the Riddler and Eddie Murphy was cast as him.

Take this as a grain of salt and a big rumour until the studio or the movie sites actually get info on it, The Sun is at the centre of a scandal at the moment too, so don’t trust everything you read in it.
