Will ‘Venom’ Tie Into ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’?

Will the upcoming Venom movie tie into The Amazing Spider-Man? I would almost have to, wouldn’t it? Spider-Man and Venom occupy the same universe, their story lines cross over and Sony has the film rights for both characters; so it just makes sense, right?

Producers Avi Arad and Matthew Tolmach seem to agree, and said as much in a recent interview:

“What I’m trying to say to you without giving anything away is hopefully all these worlds will live together in peace someday.

“It’s an Eddie Brock story. We want to be as close to the comics as possible. Especially in Eddie Brock’s story. But again, pseudo-sceince is becoming science. All these tidbits about webs, artificial webs, is a huge industry now. Spiderwebs have unique qualities that will be huge for communications, fibers, and so forth. So we have taken the approach that we want to make the huge amazing movie about Eddie.

“He was a journalist. He had the wrong story, he got in trouble for it, he got fired. The whole essence to us for the Marvel characters. Stay close to the bible, stay close to the emotional story, and the rest is fun.”

I wouldn’t mind a Venom film, as long as it’s better than the last time we saw him on screen. Fortunately Spider-Man 3 didn’t set the bar too high, so it shouldn’t be tough to improve on the character.

What do you think?

As long as they get Liev Schreiber this time to play Eddie, I’m there!

Why is there going to be a venom movie? He’s best as a villain, and you don’t make a movie with a villain as the central character. That being said, they’re probably going to make him a super-hero in his movie, which I really am not a fan of. Stupid decisions by Marvel. It’s going to suck just like The Amazing Spiderman will suck.

  • venvariants

Fuck Venom.  They should just do villains we haven’t seen before.  They have an open slate, and the Venom fans got what they asked for already.  Let’s see some new bad guys.

We DON’T NEED a Venom film.
    Past it’s prime. Try late-90′s…
    Low ’00′s tops for interest.
    Just do Deadpool… Even then…
    Maybe drop Reynolds, get…
    Nathan Fillion (slimmed down)…
If he ain’t hired as Ant Man…
    There we go.

I agree a Venom film doesn’t make ANY sense whatsoever. And if they do introduce Venom into the new Spiderman universe, please do so properly this time.

Last time they set themselves up to tell the right story when they introduced Jonah’s son as the astronaut. All they had to do was start Spiderman 3 with a huge opening scene of Jonah landing on the moon briefly, the symbiote latching on, the shuttle returning and then the symbiote killing everyone on board during re-entry, crash landing onto the bridge where Spiderman comes to save the day and he leaves covered in some oily black substance, which transforms him into the evil black Spiderman (But with an actual venom logo… And not some gay/emo dancing) with unlimited webbing and most importantly… It’s not a physical suit. It’s a living organism that is a part of him and that he can change into in an instant… That’s the entire point and convenience of wearing/using the symbiote over his regular suit.

How hard is it to do that?? Seriously … C’mon!!

The new spiderman film is largely based on ULTIMATE SPIDERMAN and VENOM is tied to the story. The new reintroduction of Eddie Brock in ULTIMATE story line is well done & explains why Peter’s parents are missing & why the suit seems to work on PETER & Eddie.

Skip Eddie, go directly to Flash Thompsom black ops venom

  • Twinwizard

You said it, man. I couldn’t agree more. That would have been a pretty sick opening sequence to Spider-man 3. Movies should always start off with a bang like that.

  • Twinwizard

If you’re implying that Venom fans got what they asked for already in Spider-man 3… you gotta’ be freakin’ kidding me.

  • venvariants

That is exactly what I am implying.

  • Twinwizard

Well then you don’t know what you’re talking about. Just because Venom was in Spider-man 3 it doesn’t mean that Venom fans got what they wanted. Venom was done very poorly in that movie. The fans want to see Venom done right, so when you say they got what they asked for already, that’s frankly just untrue.
