This is getting ridiculous. First Paramount pushes World War Z from Christmas 2012 to summer 2013 and orders extensive reshoots and rewrites. Then they push G.I. Joe: Retaliation back to March of next year for reshoots and a 3D conversion. Now Ninja Turtles is getting delayed before it even started shooting.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle reboot is being moved from Christmas 2013 to May 16, 2014. Pre-production has bee halted while script work is done and the budget is reigned in a bit.

The original turtles became human size mutants after exposure to radioactive ooze. They were then trained in the ways of the ninja by their master Splinter, a rat who was also hanging around in the sewer, probably planning to eat one of the turtles before he was exposed to the ooze.

In the reboot the turtles will be part of an ancient alien race. Why the change, you ask? I have no idea, but I’m guessing producer Michael Bay thinks aliens are cooler then radioactive ooze.
