Barry Sonnenfeld Will Give Us ‘The Metal Men’

Barry Sonnenfeld (Men In Black III) has been a bit cagey hen talking about his next film. All we knew was he had plans to adapt a comic book from the 60s. Thanks to Vulture, we now know which one.

Get ready for, The Metal Men!

I’ve never heard of this DC comic, but fortunately Vulture has:

The Metal Men centers on an artificial-intelligence expert named William Magnus who creates six cyborgs, each made from a distinct chemical element with talents reflecting their places in the periodic table: Gold, their leader, was almost infinitely stretchable; Iron, the strongman; Lead, the simpleton protector; Mercury, the capricious risk-taker who could melt into the tiniest crevices; Platinum, a female cyborg who could flatten herself but who couldn’t believe she wasn’t a real woman.

Has anyone read this? Who do you see in the leads?

Why on Earth would anyone do this comic in live action? It’s going to be 90% CGI anyway! Just make an animated film. It could be a great kids flick.

It’s the cheaply made Cybertonians Movie!

It’s not a bad comic. But I mean, there are so much more stories, scripts and even better comics out there that holllywood can make a blockbuster from.(because that is where the money is.) And I undertand that. However, just because The Avengers was a remarkable success, does not mean that fom now on, any comic book can be successful. Sometimes, I do not undertand these suits. The want to make money with crapy stories instead of better stories that can make more money. Even if it’s for kids. (pixar)
