‘Dredd’ Trailer

The first trailer is now online for the upcoming remake of “Dredd” starring Karl Urban, Olivia Thirlby, and Lena Headey.

The film is directed by Pete Travis from a screenplay written by Alex Garland.

The future America is an irradiated waste land. On its East Coast, running from Boston to Washington DC, lies Mega City One- a vast, violent metropolis where criminals rule the chaotic streets. The only force of order lies with the urban cops called “Judges” who possess the combined powers of judge, jury and instant executioner. Known and feared throughout the city, Dredd (Karl Urban) is the ultimate Judge, challenged with ridding the city of its latest scourge – a dangerous drug epidemic that has users of “Slo-Mo” experiencing reality at a fraction of its normal speed.

During a routine day on the job, Dredd is assigned to train and evaluate Cassandra Anderson (Olivia Thirlby), a rookie with powerful psychic abilities thanks to a genetic mutation. A heinous crime calls them to a neighborhood where fellow Judges rarely dare to venture- a 200 story vertical slum controlled by prostitute turned drug lord Ma-Ma (Lena Headey) and her ruthless clan. When they capture one of the clan’s inner circle, Ma-Ma overtakes the compound’s control center and wages a dirty, vicious war against the Judges that proves she will stop at nothing to protect her empire. With the body count climbing and no way out, Dredd and Anderson must confront the odds and engage in the relentless battle for their survival.

Check out the trailer below, and let us know what you think. For those who have seen THE RAID…At one point the trailer reminds me of it…I’m not saying action wise but just the fact that they are all of sudden trapped in a building needing to go up to capture the villain.

“Dredd” will hit 3D/2D theaters on September 21, 2012.

This looks straight to dvd. Niothing exciting about this what-so-ever. It looks cheap and uninteresting.

  • JOFORSAKEN

I actually expected crap, but this looks half decent. Let’s see what the next trailer shows us. I might see it!

i saw this movie. cops go into a building controled by a drug dealer that turns all the tenants against the cops. it’s called The Raid

  • Seamus Martin

And I thought Bale’s Batman voice was bad…

  • A_Wise_Man

Would have been good had it not been in 3d. Ill see it in 2d.

I wana see it! but, that said, i kinda liked the old stallone film too….it was cheesy but fun!

  • myclawismypenis

Im guessing(?.or is it now an accepted truth) that most films have to be in 3D to get their funding…doesnt bother me when they say in 3D anymore.

  • myclawismypenis

What people should worry about is the 3D conversion….

  • beane2099

Trailer reminds me (unfortunately) of Priest. I like Carl Urban, though so I’ll probably see it.

ikr! i felt like the movie was an advanced version of The Raid

  • ann rain

    Looks cool to me.

Took me a few watches to appreciate it. Its grown on me, its like the old DIRTY HARRY films. And I love that about it. Hopefully this “Less is more” approach works out. Afterall, Dredd in the comics was based on Dirty Harry/Clint Eastwood so it makes sense.

The Environments in the Sly film were spot on though, it was his dialogue and helmet removal that ruined that film. Still a great to own though, but the Dredd comics have far more to offer.

  • AICN_Douche

    Looks cool enough…
    Little too much slow mo…
Dredd’s helmet is little too big on him…
Newbie girl Judge looks a little too perky…
    But, just nitpicking looks decent.

  • Charles Jackson III

Production design looks good. A really fleshed out world. The RAID similarities hopefully end at the premise itself. The RAID sucked.

  • ann rain

HD trailer looks a lot better :)

  • A_Wise_Man

Yea that’s true I saw Promethius in 2D and couldn’t care less as I enjoyed it.

  • A_Wise_Man

Have to agree.. Just from the first few scenes i thought Clint Eastwood & Clint KICKED seriously ASS.. Grand Torino ” I’ll blow a hole in your face then go inside and sleep like a baby”
