FIRST LOOKS! ‘Iron Man 3′ Concept Art, Marvel’s ‘Item 47′

Happy Amazing Spider-Man week to you and everyone!

Marvel has some pretty images for us to look at today, let’s look at them and talk about what they are.

#1 – First concept art from ‘Iron Man 3′

Concept artist Ryan Meinerding has a piece of his ‘Iron Man 3′ work posted to Facebook on the Avengers movie page. You remember how we told you that Stark gets assaulted in his own home that gets pushed into the ocean? Chances are, this is from that sequence, when they come for Stark and he’s not as prepared as he could be.

#2 – Lizzy Caplan holds ‘Item 47′

‘Item 47′ is the name of the Marvel short film that will bow in with the Avengers home video releases. Marvel calls them “one-shots” and up until now they have all been about 4 minutes long and have starred Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson.

Of course, that can’t happen anymore.

‘Item 47′ is about a couple who nabs one of the alien guns left over from The Avengers climactic invasion. Lizzy Caplan (Cloverfield) and Jesse Bradford (Flags of Our Fathers) play our couple who decide with great power comes a responsibility to steal some stuff.

Two S.H.I.E.L.D. agents (Maximiliano Hernández, The Avengers, and Lost’s Titus Welliver) are given the job of cleaning up the mess in this 12-minute short.

Word from Entertainment Weekly is that Marvel is already scripting shorts to accompany their Iron Man 2, Thor 2 and Cap 2 releases.

Sure, ‘Item 47′ looks like fun, but it’s not going to be the way they debut anything that has the potential to make a movie. You can’t cast Dr. Strange for a short, then hope he ends up in his own flick. What you can do is make a Dr. Strange flick and contractually tie that person to shorts.

All I’m saying is, I’m in favor of more Marvel One-Shots, just don’t look for them to debut any cinematic characters in these little tidbits.
