And it looks like it’s definitely happening.

Walt Disney Pictures announced that an untitled Marvel movie will be moved to August 1st, 2014 after being dated May 16th, 2014.

As reported last week by our very own Da7e, the untitled movie will be the comic book movie “Guardians of the Galaxy.”

The Guardians of the Galaxy is a team of superheroes who will reunite against Thanos and his evil forces. For more details on Guardians of the Galaxy, read Da7e’s article here.

The rumor is expected that Marvel will announce details about this movie at the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con International. And it will serve as a pre-cursor to “The Avengers 2.”

the first comic i ever bought was an issue of the Avengers (167) featuring the Guardians of the Galaxy, the fuzzy headed blue furred beast; nighthawk of the defenders and art by George Perez and Terry Austin… story by Roger Stern and Jim Shooter. It’s not gonna get any better than what they did i’m telling you! If they do the old guard first they’ll have somewhere to grow from! If they do the new characters first it’ll cut the products shelf life in half. Look at the mess they got into with the x-men introducing the right characters at the wrong times! search out issue 167 if you can find it! Unbelievable awesomeness in the mighty marvel fashion!

A blue racoon? I smell ‘Howard The Duck’ style disaster.

You know who would be great for this film? Joss Whedon. Im serious. After Firefly I need to see a hardcore space opera from him, and this would be perfect. Alas he wont as he is going to do The Avengers 2….I hope. Maybe he can help rewrite the screenplay if it needs it.

They are going to need a really capable director to pull this kind of film off. Marvel can’t just go hire some TV Directors for this kind of movie.
