Michael Fassbender Will Star In And Produce ‘Assassin’s Creed’

Michael Fassbender is certainly moving full steam ahead in his career, and shows no signs of slowing down.

Variety is reporting Fassbender will star in and produce and adaptation of Assassin’s Creed, based on the game from Ubisoft. It’s been Ubisoft’s biggest franchise since the first game hit in 2007.

Creed tells the story of “a man who learns his ancestors were trained assassins after he is kidnapped by a secret organization with ties to the Knights Templar, and sent back in time to retrieve historical artifacts.”

Jean-Julien Baronnet, CEO of Ubisoft Motion Pictures, on Fassbender:

“Michael Fassbender was our first choice. He is an extremely smart, talented, versatile and committed actor.”

No director or writer has been chosen, but with Fassbender attached expect a choice to be made soon.

Great news….always wanted to see a movie adaptation of this. And with Fassbender attatched, its sounding a whole lot better…..Maybe this will break the “crap movie adapts of games” curse? I have played all these games, and am a huge fan of them. Word of correction. Article says Myles is sent back in time…this is not completely right…..He relives the memories of his ancestors via a machine called the animus, by accessing their memories through his shared DNA.

Nice Assassins Creed has one of the most interesting storylines out there, its almost as fleshed out as Halo.

The cool thing is, Michael is co producing to make the film independent from studio control and retain the creative quality with Ubisoft. This news made my day, good to see the project is still active.
