CBS Films Will Bring ‘Deus Ex’ To The Big Screen

CBS Films has purchased the screen rights to the it video game franchise Deus Ex.

From CBS Films:

CBS Films announced today that they have secured the screen rights to the iconic Deus Ex videogame franchise from Square Enix.  Roy Lee and Adrian Askarieh areattached to produce and John P. Middleton will serve as Executive Producer.

The Deus Ex franchise was originally introduced in June2000.  Its latest entry, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, launched to universal acclaim in 2011, ranking #1 across global sales charts and earning over 100 industry awards. Developed by Eidos-Montréal and published by Square Enix, Deus Ex: Human Revolution will serve as the primary template for the film.

Set in the near future, when dramatic advances in science, specifically human augmentation, have triggered a technological renaissance, Deus Ex: Human Revolution follows Adam Jensen, an ex-SWAT security specialist who must embrace mechanical augments in order to unravel a global conspiracy.

Terry Press, Co-President, CBS Films:

“As is clear from the wild success of the game, Square Enix and Eidos-Montréal know how to exceed their audience’s expectations by engineering incredible worlds. No one knows Human Revolution like the team that created it and we look forward to working with them from day one to make a film adaptation worthy of the Deus Ex name.”

Phil Rogers, president and chief executive officer of Square Enix Europe:

“As the millions of fans who have played the Deus Ex games for more than a decade will tell you, these games catapult you into a universe that is stimulating, engaging and relevant. We’re firm believers in building strong partnerships and so we’re thrilled to be working with CBS Films on bringing the unique Deus Ex experience to the big screen.”

I haven’t played any of the games in years, but I remember liking them.

What do you think of a film version? With this and the Assassin’s Creed news yesterday, it seems like Hollywood is trying to break this video game to movie curse. Let’s hope they can do it.

The game danced a fine line between corporate greed and government evil. Hollywood will be unable to resist turning it into some campaign for their government control crap.

But worse than that…DEUS EX gets a film…AND STILL NO HALO MOVIE!

Could be really good with a hard “R” or it could be really lame with a “PG-13″…

  • Jesus_Slade

That just did my head in!!
I just finished playing the game 2 days ago!! (which is wicked fun)
Sure they could rip a script straight from the game, and it would make a cool movie,
but there’s major doubt they could capture the feel of it.
For the price of a movie ticket just get the game! (PS3 – $15)
Enjoy it for days not just a couple of hours!

I knew this would happen eventually. That game is too cinematic for Hollywood not to try and sink their teeth into it

You are the single worst thing about Latino Review.

  • A_Wise_Man

Yea The Expendables managed to beat out the hollywood greed and kept its R rating so there is hope.

  • A_Wise_Man

Another Halo hater? I am so sorry if I offended you /s

  • A_Wise_Man

They should take the Score right out of the game. Hell the E3 trailer is a movie trailer.

No every single topic I scroll down to your stupid ass is always
    “LOL EPIC FAIL!!!”
    “TROLLIN!!!”

  • A_Wise_Man

Try reading a book once in a while, It will help with your grammar and you will learn a thing or two.And Im sorry that I think Post conversion 3D is a failure. You are more than welcome to spend your mom’s money on shitty 3D.

I have doubts you have even played Halo let alone Deus Ex Human Revolution.

  • http://twitter.com/AverageCharles Charles Gerian

Oh man you’re such a hardass? And who the fuck cares about 3D/2D conversion? I’ve played Halo, Halo 2, Halo:Reach, Halo 3, and whatever other shitty games are in your beloved X-bro franchise. (1 and Reach being the only good ones). I also played Human Revolution and next to Skyward Sword it was my GOTY 2011, the game is ripe for a film adaption if done right; and I’m glad you can draw such “epic for the win” conclusions that I’ve never played either just because you sound like some desperate fucking idiot thinking anyone cares about your shitty Halo (mature for mature gamers such as myself) movie; but please, keep going from story to story
“lol hollywood is such an epic fail!! XD”
“le Halo movie would be an EPIC WIN!!!”
“ur grammar sux becuz u dont like halo u dumbass”

  • http://twitter.com/AverageCharles Charles Gerian

I’d love to go see your thoughts on Amazing Spider-Man i’m sure you hated it because it’s “typical hollywood trash” and you probably suggested a bunch of deep indie films, was Ted an “epic win” movie as well with “lol family guy jokes”

  • Jesus_Slade

Dude! I have no idea what that shit is????
Are you just slamming your head into the keyboard?
    Slam it some more!
    Charles in charge!

  • A_Wise_Man

Next time try and reply to my comment instead of yourself.
    FAIL

And yes Amazing Spiderman was trash. Im sure you though Twilight was an Oscar contender as well.

  • A_Wise_Man

So you are a PS3 fanboy. Your bad grammar and replying to your own comments make sense now…

  • Jesus_Slade

    WOW!
I haven’t seen such a bitch fit sense ‘Anonymous Prime’ rated Spidy the movie of the year!!
    Keep banging that keyboard!

  • rsixsmith

agreed. and that’s great advice for any kind of adaptation, whether it’s books, comics or whatever.

  • myclawismypenis

    DUNCAN JONES SHOULD DIRECT THIS!!

  • rsixsmith

god, where have the latino review fights been? WIN for both of you. btw, wise man, i saw amazing spiderman sunday (matinee, of course), and you’re mostly right that it was not a very good movie, but let’s be honest- you were going to hate it for being a reboot anyway. and for featuring a skateboard. i wouldn’t go as far as trash, since it really did seem to try and there were some really cool sequences. pacing was so off it was incredibly distracting. i don’t get what your unwavering connection between twilight lovers and TAS is, but i’m sure not going to watch one of those movies to find out. anyway, you called it.

  • A_Wise_Man

    I can live with that
