‘Gangster Squad’ International Trailer

Warner Bros. Pictures has released an international trailer for Ruben Fleischer’s upcoming flick “Gangster Squad,” the action drama is based on a series of Los Angeles Times’ articles about the Los Angeles Police Department targeting mob operations.

“Gangster Squad” stars Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Sean Penn, Emma Stone, Nick Nolte, Robert Patrick, Michael Pena, Giovanni Ribisi, and Anthony Mackie.

The film is set in Los Angeles, 1949. Ruthless, Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) runs the show in this town, reaping the ill-gotten gains from the drugs, the guns, the prostitutes and–if he has his way–every wire bet placed west of Chicago. And he does it all with the protection of not only his own paid goons, but also the police and the politicians who are under his control. It’s enough to intimidate even the bravest, street-hardened cop…except, perhaps, for the small, secret crew of LAPD outsiders led by Sgt. John O’Mara (Josh Brolin) and Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling), who come together to try to tear Cohen’s world apart. “Gangster Squad” is a colorful retelling of events surrounding the LAPD’s efforts to take back their nascent city from one of the most dangerous mafia bosses of all time.

Check out the trailer below.

The film is set to hit theaters on September 7, 2012.

Anything with Sean Penn gives me pause before I consider spending money on viewing it

For a minute there I thought it was a John Woo film with all those slo-mo and shoot outs. Looks interesting though, just wish the director came up with a different style.

    I can’t believe they’re still using clips-in-reverse in 2012.. even if it’s just a little scene, a 2 second thing.. but why?
