Ed Helms Is In Talks For ‘Vacation’ Reboot, Remake or Whatever It Is

Ed Helms (The Office, The Hangover franchise) is probably going to play Rusty Griswald in the Vacation reboot New Line has been planning. John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, who wrote Horrible Bosses, are writing and directing.

Helms has been rumored for the role since the beginning of the year, but New Line is finally admitting to it now. Filming will begin sometime in the spring of 2013. This will give Helms a chance to shoot The Hangover III, and give Daley and Goldstein a chance to trim the budget on their script.

This will be the fifth Vacation film, and the first not starring Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo. The Griswald children, Rusty and Audrey, have been played by different actors in every film. So one wonders, if this film is successful enough to warrant a sequel, will Helms be invited back, or will New Line keep up the tradition? I’m guessing the part is Helms’ until he doesn’t want it anymore.
