You read that right, and this banner image isn’t some sort of fever dream. We knew it was only a matter of time before Disney realized they had more leeway with the Marvel characters than the current Disney media landscape would have you think.
Well, no longer. ‘Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel’ will bring the Disney XD cast into contact with Spider-Man, Thor, Iron Man and Captain America. The Marvel characters will be designed into the Phineas and Ferb world and here’s a glimpse at the plot:
Announced at Comic-Con, “Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel” will have Spider-Man, Iron Man, Thor and Hulk drop into Danville but they’re not happy to be there — a scheme by Dr. Doofenshmirtz has robbed the mighty quartet of their powers. The marooned heroes will have a fight on their hands with four super villains — the Red Skull, Whiplash, Venom and M.O.D.O.K. — who are working together with Dr. Doofenshmirtz.
I’m cool with keeping the Marvel heroes in animated worlds. It’s the “iCarly is dating Peter Parker now on iCarly” that really worries me. Because that’s a business decision that would probably make bank revitalizing a show like iCarly to the point where it’s worth degrading the Marvel character to boost the failing show.
But that’s crazy talk. If Marvel needs to be on Disney TV shows, they can do a lot worse than giving Phineas and Ferb a spin.
(Side note: M.O.D.O.K.? It’s because he’s a giant head, isn’t it?)
