Ridley Scott Wants to Cause A Disaster

Ridley Scott wants to make a disaster movie. He has hooked up with Steven Zallian and the duo will be producing a film based on the BBC “documentary” The Day Britain Stopped.

The original was about a rail strike, traffic congestion and a mid-air plane collision all bringing the British transit system to a stop. Scott and Zallian’s film won’t be an exact remake, but will use the original as inspiration.

They’re looking for a writer now and word is the plot will start with a “man made disaster that ignites a global catastrophe.”

The film is set up at Fox with Scott producing through hi Scott Free Productions and Zallian through his company Film Rites.

    what about Prometheus 2?

  • A_Wise_Man

idk about this. That sounds like one of those documentary turned found footage things. Ridley Scott is leagues ahead of that rubbish. Hes right up there with Christopher Nolan….why can’t he ask to work on something epic like another stand alone historical Drama like Gladiator or even Promethius 2 which unlike many others I actually like alot.

What about BladeRunner2? With all due respect, but Sir Ridley has a huge load of projects that can be only done on the premise that he lives up to like a 100 years old. No disrespect but he should start narrowing down his projects and as a fan, I would hate to hear that BladeRunner2 and/or Prometheus 2 doesn’t get made by the Maestro, himself. Wouldn’t you agree, citizens?

I guess they need to wait till its in the black.

I love nolan, believe me, but honestly, dont let pop culture and whatever you deem current “successes or failures” distort the truth, Nolan is NO WHERE NEAR Sir Ridley Scott. research his bio and body of work, and understand how hard it is to stay relevant in this industry let alone produce, direct and be apart of so many amazing products for as long as he has. you think because of the last couple projects you were alive an aware enough to see, Chris Nolan can hang with the big boys, it’s just not the case, nor with Nolan think it’s the case, that man is as humble as can be, and as an englishmen he would have nothing but respect and humbleness to show to his superior Sir Ridley. in 20 years, if Nolan stays consistant and current as Ridley has, maybe then we can put him in that category, but not now, believe me not now.

You forgot the “here lately” ….My analysis was of his most recent work in the last such and such years..not his entire catalog, which I was going to mention…but decided against it. Well, lets look over his movies…lets see..hmm, Alien, Bladerunner…those two speak for themselves…Gladiator. I even enjoyed Hannibal. Black Hawk down was good…and finally, Prometheus. These movies I enjoy more than the rest of the bunch. With Nolan, I find all his movies enjoyable, except THE FOLLOWING, which everytime I have a chance to watch..doesnt seem to be the right time anyway. Im not going to debate who is better Director..Ridley, as you mentioned has stayed pretty strong through out his career..no doubt. Im just saying that as of right now, Nolan is more bankable..doesnt have anything to do with pop culture..I would think that if NOlan was so poppy, he would do 3D..but he doesnt. Anyway, If you want to argue..Really no reason for that. You see blue, I see red..just different perspective. For me, I look forward to both of their movies coming out..just seems that NOlan has my attention more than Scott..until Blade Runner 2 gets going.

Prometheus 2 should be his priority.

  • A_Wise_Man

Nolan is good because he’s Nolan, hes not Pop culture anything, James camoron is pop culture and so is Twilight. Big difference. Ridley Scott is very talented but he has a different style but imo the quality is similar to what Nolan can produce.

I thought Prometheus was quite the disaster :-)

  • myclawismypenis

It fell short of the finish line.

Im more interested in Blade Runner2 than anything else.

BladeRunner is one of my favorite movies. I’m almost afraid for Ripley…I mean…Ridley to take a crack at a sequel. Some fans may disagree with me; but I really don’t want to see harrison Ford reprise his role. I would like to see another Bladerunner. A cameo by Ford would be cool; but I would like this film to stand alone like Prometheus

No…I don’t think it was a disaster. It just didn’t live up to what most people was expecting. After watching it 3 times; I can say a lot of the plot holes and questions…Ridley did that intentionally …holding out for the sequel. You can’t expect the man to give it all away in one movie do you?

  • myclawismypenis

I will hold my final verdict until I can watch it again to see if another viewing will open it up better for me…

  • myclawismypenis

Well, not sure..whatever they decide is what we are going to get.
