Joe Manganiello is familiar with the prying eyes of female audiences, having starred as a brawny werewolf in HBO’s True Blood and most recently as an “on-stage entertainer” in Steven Soderbergh’s male stripper opus Magic Mike.
Now he’s set his scopes on a male-oriented audience. You know – the ones that still go to Schwarzenegger movies.
Manganiello is in negotiations to join Arnold, Sam Worthington, Terrence Howard, and Dawn Olivieri in an action thriller about a group of DEA agents that pulls off a heist while on the job, and soon finds that they are dying off one by one.
David Ayer (End of Watch) directs from a screenplay by Skip Woods, responsible for writing 2001’s Swordfish, an incomprehensible bungle of a film. Let’s hope Breacher aims for a little more cohesion.
Manganiello will play one of the good guys, responsible for contacting the police when things turn sour. The actor’s star-making transition from television to movies is under way.
