Lionsgate is giving us new casting news on a weekly, sometimes daily, basis for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

Lionsgate® and the filmmakers of THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE are pleased to announce that Maria Howell has been cast in the role of Seeder in the much anticipated film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ worldwide smash hit novel Catching Fire. A former victor from District 11, Seeder competes in the 75thAnnual Hunger Games, also known as the Quarter Quell.
Maria Howell is an Atlanta, Georgia based actress, singer, and voiceover artist best known as the choir soloist from the movie “The Color Purple.” She has also appeared on television in Army Wives, Drop Dead Diva, The Vampire Diaries, Meet The Browns, and House Of Payne, and in the acclaimed film “The Blind Side.”
The synopsis:
THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.
Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend) is directing this time around.
