‘The Last Stand’ Trailer

Lionsgate has released the official trailer for Arnold Schwarzenegger’s upcoming action film “The Last Stand,” which hits theaters on January 18, 2013.

Schwarzenegger stars as Sheriff Owens, a man who has resigned himself to a life of fighting what little crime takes place in sleepy border town Sommerton Junction after leaving his LAPD post following a bungled operation that left him wracked with failure and defeat after his partner was crippled. After a spectacular escape from an FBI prisoner convoy, the most notorious, wanted drug kingpin in the hemisphere is hurtling toward the border at 200 mph in a specially outfitted car with a hostage and a fierce army of gang members. He is headed, it turns out, straight for Summerton Junction, where the whole of the U.S. law enforcement will have their last opportunity to make a stand and intercept him before he slips across the border forever. At first reluctant to become involved, and then counted out because of the perceived ineptitude of his small town force, Owens ultimately accepts responsibility for one of the most daring face offs in cinema history.

The film also co-stars Zach Gilford, Forest Whitaker, Luis Guzman, Rodrigo Santoro, Johnny Knoxville, Jaimie Alexander, Eduardo Noriega, Peter Stormare, Harry Dean Stanton, and Genesis Rodriguez.

Kim Jee-Woon directed the film from a screenplay written by Andrew Knauer, and Jeffrey Nachmanoff.

While I’m stoke about Arnie’s return to the big screen, I’m not really sold in this…. yet.

    I’ll buy a ticket…
    So Arnie, keeps getting paychecks.

Sooooooo….Johnny Knoxville is to this decade what Rob Schneider was to the 90′s? Comic sidekick huh? Good to know Hollywood is sticking with only the best stereotypes!

This looks sort of of a vehicle to get ahnald back into the spotlight. Although he is in Expendables 2, he is not a main character.

Well.. it’s hard to say. Doesn’t look brilliant but it does look fun. Doesn’t look like a bad arnie movie but doesn’t look great. Arnies acting is as terrible as ever (but that’s most of his appeal honestly and who watches Arnie for acting???) and then theres Knoxville and his ‘tard in a ‘tards hat approach… I’ll see it but my expectations just went way down.

    Looked fine to me.

This might sound mean, but did Forrest Whitaker and Sly Stallone have the same doctor deliver them when they were born? Just curious…

That said, I’m not really looking forward to this in theaters, but DVD sure thing.

Just once I’d like Arnold to do a film in his native tongue. He can speak Austrian and German so imagine him in Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds as a German Captain or something.

I’m sure he’d be more believable in a dramatic role speaking German/Austrian, and I’d be interested to see it.
