Adam McKay’s ‘The Boys’ Resurrected at Paramount

Yup, the character second from left looks exactly like Simon Pegg.  That’s because IT IS supposed to be Mr. Pegg.  Garth Ennis, creator of the comic book series The Boys, based the character Wee Hughie Green on the British comic actor.

And maybe if we’re lucky, Pegg will play him in the feature film adaptation that up until a few days ago was presumed dead.

Not according to attached director Adam McKay it isn’t.  When a fan on Twitter expressed his condolences that the project wasn’t happening anymore (dumped by Columbia-Sony), McKay responded with:

“Actually paramount picked it up and we’re still developing.”

Dope!  The film would be a definite change of pace for McKay, who’s spent the better part of a decade directing mainly Will Ferrell projects as his right-hand creative man.  I think because McKay’s an unexpected choice for the film, he’s a good fit.  We need more surprises in this industry.

The Boys follows a group of CIA agents tasked with keeping all reckless and belligerent superheroes in line.
