Is Jim Carrey Ready to ‘Kick-Ass’, Too?

Universal wants a really big name for Kick-Ass 2.  Jim Carrey is a good start, I’d say.

Carrey is “being courted” to play The Colonel.  This guy:

In the comic book, he’s known as Colonel Stars.  He’s an ex-mob enforcer who is the de facto leader of Justice Forever, a team of superheroes a la JLA or Avengers.

The Colonel character is supposed to be burly and intimidating, not really the descriptors you’d match with Carrey.  I’d love for Carrey to be in the movie, I just don’t see him as this particular character.

100% agree with you Matt. JC needs to shift gears and get me interested in him again. His comedy stylings have gotten a bit stale lately, so I hope he gets more offers (and takes them) with roles like this one.

Yeah well, nobody saw Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Heath Ledger as The Joker or even Christian Bale as Batman originally. Then when their performance hit they blew everyone away. Let’s wait and see what Jim brings to the role if he says ok? After all, some of his best stuff has been his less comedic, more dramatic stuff in the past.

Actually that looks like a solid match.

    It will never happen.

Nobody knew who Hugh Jackman was in 2000, so that choice was more up in the air.
I think most people really dug the idea of Mr. American Psycho playing Batman.
