Hugh Laurie Drops Out of ‘RoboCop’ Remake

Hugh Laurie was supposed to play the villainous head of the tech company responsible for building RoboCop in the new MGM remake.

Laurie was interested in the playing the role, but has stopped talks with the studio.

Now MGM is looking for other big-name actors to replace him, including Clive Owen.

Laurie most likely read the latest draft of the script and said, “Bloody hell is this?”  The script, according to a Twitter rant by Hit Fix’s Drew McWeeny, is so bad it’s almost unreadable.

Too bad, because Laurie is a great actor and an even better anti-hero/baddie.

    I wouldn’t be surprised if most of the wicked cast they put together start dropping out after checking out the script. Transformer RoboCop in Iraq…give me a break. Can you fly Bobby? No, no I can’t.

    unless the original was bad, don’t go to the theater to see a remake. no matter what it is. don’t reward this garbage or the garbage that turns it out. if you must see it, wait for DVD or whatever. what an embarrassment hollywod is sometimes, though these days it seems more and more often.

    To be honest, Total Recall TOTALL RECALLED any chance that a remake could be good. Either do a hard reboot and tell a different story or get off the pot!
