Marianne Jean-Baptiste Signs on for ‘RoboCop’

Marianne Jean-Baptiste has joined the cast of RoboCop. She will play Chief of Police Karen Dean. Jean-Baptiste joins Samuel L. Jackson, Gary Oldman, Hugh Laurie and Jole Kinnaman in the Jose Padilha directed remake.

Can someone please explain to me why RoboCop is being remade? Why do they need to go all the way back to the origin?

I would be much happier if we got a credits montage at the start of the film beginning with Peter Weller’s RoboCop and bringing us up through the years. We get to see how the program was so successful that multiple cities have started using their own RoboCops. The new movie starts about thirty years after the first and we get a new RoboCop movie existing in the same universe as the first.

What do you think?

I’m just getting tired of all these origin stories and needless remakes.

For instance it’s an Reboot and not an Remake – why?: Well it’s not existing in the same universe (at least it seems so), only MurphyRobo is the same character and nobody else, even the story isn’t the same. You have a lot of explanations what RebootRemake is on the net (Google it)

He’s not questioning the definition of a reboot, but the necessity for one.

For remake of course he is asking

Uh…. Huh. There’s a slight language barrier here. But, uh, have… a nice day? ‘K, bye.

Do you know what joke is (Yoda pal) :D it would be even funnier if i wrote he asking is. Why RemakesReboots are necessary? Well they are not but there are people who would love to see new take on some movies – visually (that’s it). People you will have to use to it, no matter what you will say things won’t change. Nobody is deleting original stuff i mean is there any evidence that RebootRemake deleted an original movie so you couldn’t see it again? I am not happy with it also but i am dealing with it easily. I watched Total Recall today and the movie wasn’t that bad in fact it was quite awesome (if you forget about that this is Total Recall Remake).

In this case I think I remake is fine. I think it’s been suitably long enough since the last movie to do that. I think bogging this down with anything from the original would only be a disservice to this (and this is coming from someone who LOVES Robocop I & II).
