No ‘Avatar 4′, Says Producer Jon Landau

Sigourney Weaver made a mistake and told the media that James Cameron was planning on shooting three Avatar sequels back-to-back.

Sorry — not true.

In a recent interview, producer Jon Landau gave up the ghost on that particular gaffe.

He corrects the actress:

“We doing two back-to-back, but not a third.”

So no Avatar 4.

An Avatar trilogy sounds about right.  Any more than three films and audiences might be left with an over-bloated mess of a franchise.

And there is nothing over-bloated about Cameron’s career thus far, right?

    James Cameron eventually needs to leave Pandora, and come back to earth to concentrate on other movies. Wouldn’t like to see him do a “Lucas”. And end up solely working on Avatar movies for the rest of his career. Would be a waste of talent.

    OK, So George Lucas isn’t the best director in the world, but he’s got a hell of an imagination. What he needs to do is let others direct. I’m still waiting on episodes 7-9. All the cast members are still alive. They should bring them back and give them their swang song, in that most of them are killed and a new generation steps in.
