Nate Parker Might Join Spike Lee’s ‘Oldboy’ Remake

Nate Parker was just in George Lucas’ Red Tails and in Spike Lee’s Red Hook Summer, and now he might be joining the cast of the Oldboy remake.

Lee is directing, and since he recently worked with Parker, it makes sense that the actor would be considered for a part.

Last week Parker was placed on Variety’s 10 Actors to Watch list.

Chan-wook Park’s Oldboy, the Korean film from which this upcoming remake is based, is a begrimed revenge yarn made famous by a fight scene between the hero and a horde of bad guys captured in one wide continuous take.

Lee would be unwise to try and duplicate that sequence.

Nevertheless, with Josh Brolin starring, I have a feeling this might end up being a worthwhile remake.
